On Logan (2017)

I watched Logan this weekend. The movie was really good. It's probably the best superhero movie of this era. Patrick Stewart is, of course, spectacular, but Hugh Jackman gave the best performance I have ever seen from him. Part of the reason that it is so good is that the stakes are so local. They aren't fighting for the fate of the world. They are fighting for one little girl.

I think that the things that define these characters-- Xavier's hope and Logan's conflicting selfishness and morality really shine through in this setting, helped along by the actor's fantastic performances. Danfe Keen (Laura) also put on a great performance, especially for a child actress. I would like to see her in more movies as this character, but I don't think that would work in this setting.

I am also glad that they did this movie with an R rating. I don't think it could have worked otherwise. Likewise, I'm also glad that they didn't make this "Old Man Logan, The Movie". While that story line is also good, I don't think it would have worked as well in this medium (esp. with the character rights problems that would have caused).

Overall, 9/10 Would Recommend.
